Two Poems

by Kalaka Brittain-Rasmussen

This perfect moment is my ship.

I sail across the ocean of existence.

There is no traveler.

There is no traveling.

There is no journey.

There is no destination.

I never left.

I am always coming home.

The origin of tension and release.

The origin of being and not being.

This whole existence arises within me:

A weaving, leaving, starting point,

Path and goal.

Who am I?

Where have I come From?

Where am I going?

Why am I here?

The long night ends.

The cold of deep morning moves into something else.

An awareness is dawning.

A color, a warmth, an emotion.

Close your eyes. Do not look to the east.

Enjoy this lightening.

This lightning strike.

Listen to the song of the breeze.

Do you hear the mystery between the melody?

Listen.

But not with your ears.

Within.

It is you.
